Market size and trend Hull’s   immigrant   population   has   increased   substantially   in   size   and   diversity   in   the   last   decade.   Hull   has   seen   the   biggest percentage   increase   (195%)   in   the   non-UK   born   population   within   Yorkshire   and   the   Humber   (Research   Conducted   by   Oxford University).   Around   15   %   of   these   non-UK   born   population   are   refugees   from   the   Middle   Eastern   countries   who   have   settled   in   the city   in   recent   years   (Office   for   National   Statistics,   2015).   The   largest   number   of   applications   for   asylum   in   the   UK   in   2016   came from   nationals   of   Iran   (4,305)   of   whom   46%   were   granted   leave   to   remain   and   gained   refugee   status   at   initial   decision.   Our community   survey   indicates   that   48   Iranian   newcomers,   most   of   them   young   men   aged   between   18   and   28,   have   chosen   Hull   as their home in last two years. Figure 1: The number of UK Citizenship granted to Iranian between 1990 and 2012 Source: Statistics gained from UK Refugee Council website Costumers Core costumer groups According   to   figures   published   by   the   Office   for   National   Statistics   (ONS),   600   people   living   in   Hull   recorded   their   country   of   birth as   Iran.   The   statistics   shows   that   most   adults   are   immigrants   and   that   the   second   generation   are   still   quite   young,   so   there   are relatively   few   adults   of   Iranian   heritage   who   were   born   and   raised   in   the   UK.   Table   2   represents   the   distribution   of   Iranian residents living in the North based on age, gender and place of birth.
